A Timeless Corstorphine House Wedding in Dunedin Filled with Family and Celebration

The Story.

Shayla and Jared’s story began back in 2017, at a flat party that turned into the start of everything. Jared likes to say Shayla walked into his life holding two bottles of Speights and a cigarette, and not long after that, they became inseparable. What started as close friendship slowly and naturally became something more, and by 2020 they had built a life together in Bradford.

Their engagement was just as thoughtful and intentional. On the 2nd of March 2024, they headed down to Brighton Beach, a spot they had spent plenty of time together over the years. With the help of a photographer who jumped in at just the right moment, Jared popped the question quietly by the water. The celebration continued with dinner for two, before ending the night surrounded by friends and family at a surprise party Jared had organised at their local pub.

Their wedding day at Corstorphine House reflected everything they love. Classic, clean, and simple, with the focus firmly on celebrating together. The day began quietly and meaningfully, with Jared getting ready alongside his parents and groomsmen, finishing with a moment shared with his boys, while Shayla prepared at their home, surrounded by board games and the familiar comforts of the life they have built together. Her mum helped zip her into her dress, with cherished family heirlooms close by, including a beautiful hand mirror that had been waiting for its moment. As the morning unfolded, all eyes were on the weather, with hopes set on an outdoor ceremony despite rain passing through earlier in the day. Just in time, the clouds held, allowing Shayla and Jared to exchange vows on the lawn at Corstorphine House, exactly as they had hoped.

After family photos, the bridal party and couple explored the property, starting at the elegant water feature and entrance area before wandering down the long driveway for relaxed, natural portraits. Guests then gathered for cocktails, games, and laughter before moving inside to the glasshouse style reception space, where the atmosphere shifted seamlessly into celebration. A beautiful entrance, heartfelt speeches, and a shared meal set the tone, before the night ended on the dance floor with joy, energy, and the kind of fun that comes from being completely present with the people you love.
